------------ About the speaker: Taylor Hains is a PhD candidate in the Committee on Evolutionary Biology at the University of Chicago, and a researcher in the Field Museum’s Birds division. His primary expertise lies in population and conservation genomics, with a focus on critically endangered South American parrot species. Hains has played a key role in producing the first complete genome sequence of the Spix’s Macaw (Cyanopsitta spixii) and contributed to sequencing efforts across 94 parrot species, including the extinct Carolina Parakeet.
